Glasgow's SWG3 at risk of losing licence after three ecstasy-related teen deaths | 03I801X | 2024-04-27 06:08:01
A NIGHTCLUB attended by three teenagers who later died from ecstasy-related deaths could be shut down at a crunch licensing review tomorrow.
Police Scotland demanded the hearing into SWG3 in Glasgow after three 18-year-olds died in four months after attending raves at the venue.

One victim died at a New Year's Day bash while last August, Scott Allison of Cumbernauld, and Marcus Dick, from Coatbridge, both Lanarkshire, also passed away.
Our exclusives on the deaths rocked the trendy venue and they axed all raves in January as a mark of respect – and to conduct a root and branch review of 'systems and procedures'
But SWG3 reps will face the Glasgow Licensing Board on Friday at the request of Police Scotland – with sanctions including the licence being torn up altogether.
They could also suspend the licence, make a variation to its conditions or issue a written warning.
A source said: "All licensed premises must protect public health and prevent crime and disorder.
"Clearly these three deaths in rapid succession breach those conditions and it's likely that's why the police have requested this review."
We told in January how an 18-year-old woman, who was not named, collapsed at after a six hour New Year dance bash.
In August, Scott Allison and Marcus Dick died after attending a bash at the same venue, although they were unknown to each other.
A spokesman for Glasgow Licensing Board said: "An application to review the licence of these premises has been received and will be considered by the board.
"The outcome of the review will be determined by the individual merits of the submissions made before the board and within the context of existing licensing law."

Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland, from Police Scotland, said at the time: "We are investigating the deaths as drug-related."
In 2014, schoolgirl Regane MacColl, 17, died after apparently taking an ecstasy pill at The Arches in Glasgow city centre. The venue closed the following year after council chiefs withdrew its late licence.
SWG3 have been approached for comment.
