DELTA Air Lines has come under fire for irreparable damage to singer Madi Diaz's acoustic guitar while allegedly in the airline's care
The 37-year-old from Connecticut took to social media urging fans to repost her story about the wrecked graduation present from her father in 2004.
Singer Madi Diaz has slammed Delta Air Lines for allegedly destroying her guitar with claims that it may have been done on purpose[/caption]"Truly devastated by the damage done by @Delta to my 20-year-old martin guitar," Diaz wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
"So many memories just gone. Absolutely beyond devastated.
"Please repost. @Delta needs to be held responsible."
Despite being in a case, an image of the damage to the guitar shows splintering wood on the waist and soundboard.
An accompanying video shows the full extent of the damage with the wood towards the lower bout completely split.
"Delta, this is unfathomable and just so devastating," the singer said in the clip.
"This is completely unfixable. I will never play this guitar again and I'm just absolutely shocked at the treatment of this instrument."
Diaz added that it looked like the fragile sticker on her case had been "scratched off purposefully."
Those responding to the post also made claims that "someone smashed it" due to the extent of the damage.
"It literally looks like someone did this on purpose to @madidiaz guitar…how does this happen?" fellow singer Jamie Floyd replied.

"This is the way she makes her living..and someone smashed it in..on your watch."
The Grammy-nominated singer urged the airline to "make this right."
"It was even in a solid hard shell case. Damage like this is not accidental by any means.. you have to try to do that," another added in the comments.
Diaz continued to post about her "heartbreak" on Instagram and X reminisced about the memories she has with the guitar including touring with Harry Styles.

"From my dorm room in college to stages with @Harry_Styles this guitar has been with me through ALL OF IT," she wrote in an Instagram story.
Diaz had the lyrics to Styles' song "Medicine" taped to her guitar so she would not forget them during her performances.
Footage of the damage shows the paper torn up from the splintering wood alongside gaping holes in the side and a cracked scratch plate.
"20 years of memories all the tours and records and songs written on this guitar. Shattered by carelessness. I'm absolutely heartbroken," Diaz added.
On X, Delta apologized for the "long wait" for a response from them and asked the singer to contact them in a private message about the issue.
The U.S. Sun has contacted Diaz for comment.
Delta Air Lines issued the following statement in response to our inquiries:
"Delta apologizes to Madi for the damage to her instrument. We're in contact with her team to try to make this right."
