Amtrak chief resigns amid Elon Musk's plans to revolutionize America's rail network
The CEO of Amtrak abruptly announced he is stepping down this week as Elon Musk and the Trump administration target the U.S. rail service. In a statement, Stephen Gardner said he was departing to 'ensure that Amtrak continues to enjoy the full faith and confidence of this administration.' Gardner has been at the helm of the national transportation company for three years. But he reflected on working his way up to CEO from being in intern there in the 1990s.
