A gay-third grade teacher who was fired from a Long Island Catholic school has agreed to settle in his federal civil rights lawsuit against the diocese. Michael Califano was a teacher at Maria Regina School since September 2022 until he was fired in 2023 after pictures surfaced of him kissing his boyfriend. Califano was told he had violated the local diocese rules regarding 'living a Catholic lifestyle'. He told DailyMail.
