Bengals QB Joe Burrow returns to practice. How soon until he plays?

There's light at the end of the tunnel for theCincinnati Bengals.

The (3-6)Bengalshave cleared quarterbackJoe Burrowfor a limited return to practice, the team announced Monday. Burrow is set to begin progressing in on-field activities. Burrow's practice participation will officially start a 21-day window in which he may begin limited practice with the Bengals without counting against the 53-man roster. He's eligible to be activated to the roster during the 21-day period.

Cincinnati projected Burrow to beback around mid-December. Burrow's return to the practice field confirms the team's belief.

Burrow suffered a turf toe injury in Week 2 that required surgery. He's been on injured reserve since Sept. 16.

The Bengals are 1-6 since Burrow went down in Week 2.

NFL's midseason all-IR team: The all-star squad you don't want to be on

Jake Browning went 0-3 as a starter. The team acquired veteran Joe Flacco in October to help salvage the season. Flacco has kept Cincinnati's offense afloat, but the team is 1-3 with the 40-year-old behind center, particularly because of a defensive unit that ranks last in the NFL in yards per game and points allowed.

Burrow's possible return won't help Cincinnati's poor defense, but it should give the entire roster confidence.

"He's one of the best players in the world. Anytime that player comes back. Players have seen how hard he's been working behind the scenes with the trainers, strength coaches and all that kind of stuff. I think it's exciting when you see a guy who's put so much into coming back seemingly on the frontend of a difficult injury," Bengals coach Zac Taylor told reporters. "He's done everything he can to get himself back on the field. Now this is the next stage in his progression."

The Bengals are coming off a Week 10 bye. They travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers in Week 11.

Cincinnati is currently third in the AFC North. They are two games behind the Steelers (5-4) and are a game behind theBaltimore Ravens(4-5) in what's looking like awide open race for the division title.

DENVER, CO - NOVEMBER 06: Alex Singleton #49 of the Denver Broncos lines up before the snap during an NFL football game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Empower Field at Mile High on November 6, 2025 in Denver, Colorado. (Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images)

Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton received a random drug test from the NFL a few weeks ago. It may have prevented him from experiencing a much more serious issue down the road.

Singleton revealed Monday he was diagnosed with testicular cancer after elevated levels of the hormone hcG were discovered following the league's drug test. He went for further examinations, which confirmed the cancer diagnosis.

Singletonshared his diagnosison social media Monday, after informing the team about his diagnosis earlier in the day. Singleton said he knew about his diagnosis prior to the team's Thursday night game in Week 10, and opted to play in it before undergoing surgery Friday.

Singleton said the random drug test helped doctors discover his cancer early, and said he expects to return to the field in a few weeks.

A portion of his statement Monday read:

"This morning, I stood before our team as a lucky man.

"I shared with my teammates and coaches that I underwent successful surgery on Friday for testicular cancer after being diagnosed last week.

"Thankfully, we believe the cancer was caught early with a great prognosis for me and my family. While we are still awaiting some additional test results, I fully expect to return to the field in the coming weeks."

Singleton walked through the steps he took after discovering the high levels of hcG — also known as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone that can be an indicator of testicular cancer — following his drug test. After speaking with his wife and agent, Singleton saw a urologist, who determined Singleton had cancer. He then worked with the Broncos, who referred him to another doctor who confirmed the diagnosis.

Singleton said he debated whether he wanted to share his diagnosis publicly, and explained his reasons for taking that route.

"I wrestled with sharing such personal information publicly. But the fact is, if it helps one person decide to pay closer attention to their body, then it is well worth it.

"Early detection and regular screenings save lives and can save loved ones from a lot of grief."

Singleton, 31, has started all 10 games for the Broncos this season. He's racked up 89 tackles, with two quarterback hits, one sack and one forced fumble.

Nine of those tackles came during the team's Week 10 game against the Raiders, in which Singleton played after learning of his diagnosis.

Bruce Bochy returns to San Francisco Giants in advisory role

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Bruce Bochy and the San Francisco Giants are reuniting after all, with the club's beloved former manager taking on a special adviser role on both the baseball and business sides following 28 seasons on the dugout's top step.

President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey is turning to his old skipper to help guide a new regime and direction for the club following a fourth straight season without a playoff berth. The club announced Bochy's hiring Monday.

Posey hired Tennessee coach Tony Vitellolast month for his first job in professional baseball. Bochy should provide a strong sounding board for the first-time manager.

The 70-year-old Bochy guided the Giants to World Series championships in 2010 — the franchise's first title since moving West in 1958 — '12 and '14. He recentlyparted with the Texas Rangersfollowing three seasons as manager, including their first championship in 2023.

"I couldn't be more excited to reconnect with the Giants organization and so many familiar faces," Bochy said. "This organization and city mean a lot to me and my family, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute in any way I can."

From the beginning, Posey ruled out Bochy as a candidate to become San Francisco's manager to replace Bob Melvin. The Giants fired Melvin after two seasons.

"Having Boch back in the organization means a great deal to all of us," Posey said in a statement. "His experience, leadership, and feel for the game are unmatched, and his perspective will be invaluable as we continue building towards sustained success."

Bochy left the rival San Diego Padres to become Giants manager in 2007, the year home run king Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron's all-time record, and stayed with the club through 2019. He then worked as a special adviser for the Giants from 2020-2022 before taking the Rangers job.

This past season, the Giants finished 81-81 for one more victory than in Melvin's first year. They haven't reached the postseason since winning the NL West with a franchise-record 107 victories to edge the rival Dodgers by one game in 2021 under then-skipper Gabe Kapler.

Bochy's 2,252 career managerial wins rank sixth in baseball history, while his 4,518 games managed put him at fourth. He notched 951 victories with San Diego and another 1,052 for the Giants, second-most by a Giants manager behind Hall of Famer John McGraw. Those totals make him the only manager in MLB history with 900 or more wins with multiple franchises.

"We are thrilled to welcome Boch back to the Giants family as a special adviser to baseball operations," Giants President and CEO Larry Baer said. "Few people in baseball have his depth of knowledge, insight, and lived experience of the game. He shares a rich history with our organization and fans, and it's special to have him back in orange and black."

NFL betting, odds: Matthew Stafford, Drake Maye new favorites to win NFL MVP

The 2025-26 NFL MVP race has generally been a two-player race between Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes this season — and Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jacksonentered the season as the MVP favorite at sportsbooks.

It's time to add a couple more names to the potential MVP ballot.

After leading the New England Patriots to a seventh straight victory in a28-23 win over the Tampa Buccaneers(as 2.5-point underdogs), QB Drake Maye briefly took over atop the odds board to win NFL MVP on Sunday afternoon atBetMGM. Maye threw for 270 yards and two TDs, but also tossed a bad interception in Tampa Bay's end zone in the fourth quarter.

Shortly after New England's victory, the Los Angeles Ramsdominated the injury-riddled San Francisco 49ers in a 42-26 win, building a 21-0 first-half lead and pulling away in the second half. Rams QB Matthew Stafford threw for 280 yards and four TDs, while only taking one sack. That was good for a QBR of 84.9, his best performance of the season by that metric. It was also Stafford's third straight game with at least four touchdown passes.

As a result, it was Stafford who vaulted to the top of the MVP odds board at BetMGM at +275 odds on Sunday evening, just ahead of Maye (+300), which is where the odds stood on Monday morning. Other sportsbooks have Maye as a slight favorite or the two players as co-favorites, but they are the two players with the best odds heading into Week 12.

Mahomes (+500), Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (+550) and Allen (+650) have the next-best odds to win MVP at BetMGM. Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (10-1) is the only other player with odds of 10-1 or better to win the award.

The Patriots play again on Thursday night as a 12.5-point home favorite against the New York Jets in Week 11, while the Rams (-2.5) host the red-hot Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
