Records, as they say, are made to be broken.
With 95 categoriespacked with nominees, there are dozens of possible records to be set or surpassed at the 68th annualGrammy Awards on Feb. 1.
Kendrick Lamar– who gobbled wins in all five of his categories in 2025 – leads the nominations with nine, followed byLady Gagaand producersCirkutandJack Antonoffwith seven; and songwriter-turned-artistLeon Thomas, producer/engineer Serban Ghenea, pop princessSabrina Carpenterand Super Bowl headlinerBad Bunnywith six.
Among those with five nods are last year's best rap album winnerDoechii; hip-hop trailblazerSZAand hip-hop singer/producerTyler, the Creator.
While setting a record is an auspicious goal, some notables were already fulfilled in the nomination process.
Lamar's nod for album of the year for "GNX" marks his fifth consecutive studio album to earn the distinction. His previous nominations were for "good kid, m.A.A.d. city" (2014); "To Pimp A Butterfly" (2016); "DAMN." (2018); and "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers" (2023).
AndLady Gaga,though she's won 14 Grammys, hasn't landed simultaneous nominations in record, album and song of the year since 2010, when she did so with "Poker Face" (for record and song) and "The Fame" (for album). Her "Abracadabra" also notched her first nomination in the best dance pop recording category.

If Kendrick Lamar wins at least four Grammys …
He willbreak Jay-Z's recordas the most-awarded rapper in Grammy history. Lamar currently holds 22 Grammys to Jay-Z's 25 and is nominated for a leading nine awards this year (but can only win eight – barring an unusual tie – since he's nominated twice in best rap performance). Lamar could also tieMichael JacksonandSantana'srecord for most Grammys won in one night, who each won eight in 1984 and 2000, respectively.
If Kendrick Lamar or Tyler, the Creator win album of the year …
Either would be the first solo male rapper to get the win. Lamar is nominated for "GNX" and Tyler, the Creator for "Chromakopia." No hip-hop album has won in this category since Outkast's "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" in 2004.
If Kendrick Lamar wins song of the year for "Luther" …
He will become only the second songwriter to win the category in two consecutive years. In 2025, Lamar won with "Not Like Us." The only other person to achieve the feat is Dernst "D'Mile" Emile II, who won for cowriting H.E.R.'s "I Can't Breathe" in 2021 and Silk Sonic's "Leave the Door Open" in 2022.
If Kendrick Lamar wins record of the year for "Luther" …
He would be the first rapper to win consecutively as well as the first rapper to win twice following his 2025 sweep with "Not Like Us." He would also become first male solo artist ever to do this. Two female solo artists – Roberta Flack andBillie Eilish– as well as a group – U2 – have achieved the feat.

She would break Adele and Beyoncé's record for the most Grammys won in one year by a female artist. Both Adele and Beyonce won six awards each in one night.
If Bad Bunny wins record or song of the year for 'DTMF' …
It would become the first Spanish song to win the categories and only the second foreign language song to win since 1959's Italian staple "Nel blu, dipinto di blu (Volare)." That year – at the inaugural Grammy Awards – the song popularized by Italian singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno won both record and song of the year.
If Bad Bunny's 'Debí Tirar Más Fotos' wins album of the year …
It would be the first Spanish-language album to do so. As it stands, Bad Bunny's sixth studio album is only the second Spanish-language album nominated for the coveted award. The first was his "Un Verano Sin Ti" in 2023.
If Bad Bunny,Sabrina Carpenteror Lady Gaga win record, song and album of the year …
They would join eight other artists who accomplished the sweep: Paul Simon (1971); Carole King (1972); Christopher Cross (1981); Eric Clapton (1993); The Chicks (2007); Adele (2012 and 2017 – the only artist to do it twice); Bruno Mars (2018) and Billie Eilish (2020).
If Billie Eilish and Finneas ("Wildflower") or Bruno Mars and Brody Brown ("APT") win song of the year …
They would – respectively – become the first songwriters to snag a category win three times. There have been 10 other songwriters credited with winning the award twice: Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer (1962, 1964); James Horner (1988, 1999); Will Jennings (1993, 1999); Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton of U2 (2001, 2006); Adele (2012, 2017); Dernst "D'Mile" Emile II (2021, 2022). Mars and Brown previously won for "That What I Like" (2018) and "Leave the Door Open" (2022) and Eilish and Finneas for "Bad Guy" (2020) and "What Was I Made For" (2024).
If Bruno Mars wins record of the year for "APT" …
He would become the first artist to win in the category four times. He previously earned trophies for "Uptown Funk" (2016), "24K Magic" (2018) and "Leave the Door Open" (2022).
IfRosé wins record or song of the year for "APT" …
She will be the first K-pop act to win in either category. BTS was the first K-pop group to receive a Grammy nomination – for "Dynamite" in 2021 – as well as the first to perform on the show. Korean artists have won Grammys, but none from theHallyu, or Korean Wave.
If Billie Eilish wins record of the year for "Wildflower" …
She would become the first woman to win the category three times. Her previous victories were for "Bad Guy" in 2020 and "Everything I Wanted" in 2021.
If Cardi B or Doechii win for best rap performance …
Either would become the first solo female rapper to triumph in the category. Doechii is nominated for "Anxiety" and Cardi B for "Outside."
If Doechii wins record or song of the year for "Anxiety" …
She will be the first female rapper to score a win in the category.
If Jack Antonoff wins in record of the year …
He will join Christopher Cross, Billie Eilish and Adele as the only artists to win all four major Grammy categories. Antonoff is nominated for seven awards this year, including his work on two record of the year nominees – Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "Luther" and Sabrina Carpenter's "Manchild." He previously won best new artist and song of the year ("We Are Young" with Fun) in 2013 and album of the year three times for coproducing Taylor Swift's "1989," "Folklore" and "Midnights" releases.
If KATSEYE wins best new artist …
The global girl group would be the first all-female collective to win. As well, members Sophia Laforteza, Yoonchae Jengae and Manon Bannerman – would become the first Philippine, South Korean and Swiss, respectively, to win in the category.
If Skrillex wins best dance/electronic album for 'F* U Skrillex You Think Ur Andy Warhol but Ur Not!! <3' …
He will hold the record for the most wins in the category with four, breaking a tie with The Chemical Brothers.
If Chris Stapleton wins best country song for "Song to Sing" …
He would stand alone with the most wins in the category with four. Stapleton has won three times in the past, which currently ties him with Kacey Musgraves, Josh Kear and Lori McKenna.
If Haim wins in best rock album …
The sibling trio of Este, Danielle and Alana Haim, nominated for "I Quit," would be the first all-female band to win the category.
If the Dalai Lama wins best audio book …
It will mark the first time the Dalai Lama has won a Grammy. He is nominated in best audio book, narration and storytelling recording for "Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama."
If Stephen Sondheim wins best musical theater album for "Gypsy" …
The late Broadway icon will break his tie with Thomas Z. Shepard and become the sole record-holder for most wins in the category with seven.
