'You tried to make me look like a fascist': PSG keeper Chevalier denies far-right support

PARIS (AP) — PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier defended himself on Monday against suggestions he supports the far-right after he appeared to have liked a controversial video on social media.

Chevalier came under heavy criticism and was targeted with insults online by some internet users who spotted over the weekend that he had liked an old video of a former French conservative lawmaker saying that he would rather vote for the far-right National Rally than for the left-wing candidate at an election.

In along message posted on Instagramafter his club won3-2 at Lyonto stay at the top of the Ligue 1 standings on Sunday, Chevalier said he did not share the political views expressed in the video.

"It's depressing to know that while scrolling and accidentally liking a post without even realizing it, you wake up from your nap to get ready for the match and find out that your image has been dragged through the mud from top to bottom for an accidental action. It pisses me off," the PSG goalkeeper wrote. "But it's certain that anyone who knows me knows very well that I'm someone whose parents and family have taught me values and respect, and that I would never allow myself to think such things."

"You tried to make me look like a fascist, and it's not just me you targeted, but my entire family," Chevalier added.

PSG signed Chevalier from Lille this summer on a five-year contract.

Steelers vs. Chargers: Pittsburgh's offense, Aaron Rodgers look washed in Los Angeles' dominant 25-10 victory

The Pittsburgh Steelers' lead in the AFC North is down to one game. Given how poorly they played on Sunday night, it seems impossible that they'll hold off the Baltimore Ravens for much longer. Especially if what we saw Sunday was the start of a rapid descent for Aaron Rodgers.

The Steelers' offense has lacked explosive plays all season and on Sunday night Pittsburgh couldn't even grind out many successful short plays. There was just nothing happening for the offense at all.

The drawbacks of having a quarterback who will turn 42 years old next month were evident. Rodgers hasn't been bad this season, but there's a reason there has been almost no success for quarterbacks of his age, aside from Tom Brady. Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career and the Los Angeles Chargers pulled away for an easy 25-10 win. The worst passer rating for a game in Rodgers' career before Sunday night was 34.3, which he posted in a 2014 loss at the Buffalo Bills. After an interception midway through the fourth quarter he had just 96 yards and a passer rating of 19.5.

Rodgers got a garbage time touchdown to Roman Wilson to make his final numbers look a little better, though they weren't good. He finished 16-of-31 passing for 161 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions and a 50.6 passer rating. At least he avoided a new career low rating.

The Chargers' defense has been playing well and had an excellent game Sunday night. But Pittsburgh's issues played into that. The Steelers did nothing at the trade deadline and that leaves a stale offense that relies heavily on a bunch of passes near the line of scrimmage to tight ends from their past-his-prime quarterback.

It's not a formula that is likely to win a division title.

Steelers struggle to move the ball

The Steelers' defense was fine to start Sunday night's game, but the offense wasn't.

The biggest play of the first half was a mistake from Rodgers. He was under pressure and retreated into his end zone, and by the time he realized his mistake it was too late. Khalil Mack tracked him down and sacked him in the end zone for a safety.

— Los Angeles Chargers (@chargers)November 10, 2025

That play summed up the first half. Rodgers was 7-of-14 passing for 64 yards and an interception. His passer rating was 33. That's uncharacteristic for Rodgers, who is second in NFL history in passer rating. But this isn't the version of Rodgers who won four MVPs.

It got worse in the second half.

Another Rodgers mistake led to the first touchdown of the game. He threw high to DK Metcalf and it was picked off. The Chargers cashed that in with a Ladd McConkey touchdown catch with 12 seconds left in the half.

The Chargers led 12-3 at halftime. They hadn't played well. The Steelers had just played far worse.

It stayed ugly for Steelers in second half

The Steelers' first score of the game was a field goal with 1:44 left in the first quarter. It came after a bad Chargers punt. Pittsburgh gained 5 yards on that drive without getting a first down, and Chris Boswell hit a 59-yard field goal to salvage some points. That was the highlight of the night for Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh got into the red zone early in the fourth quarter after a missed Chargers field goal and a couple of nice plays from running back Jaylen Warren. But Rodgers threw incomplete on three straight downs, including a throw on fourth down to DK Metcalf in the end zone that never had a chance. The Steelers were still stuck on three points.

After that the Chargers put the game away. McConkey had a 58-yard catch on an extremely tight window throw from Justin Herbert, and Kimani Vidal scored on a touchdown run. The Chargers led 22-3 and the Steelers weren't scoring enough to get back in the game.

A mistake after that wasn't Rodgers' fault. His pass bounced off Calvin Austin III's hands and went right to cornerback Donte Jackson. The Steelers' inactivity at the trade deadline, especially at receiver, was evident Sunday.

The Steelers have had some good moments this season. That's a reason they have a winning record and are still in first place of the division. But the flaws are evident. And the Ravens are tracking them down at a rapid pace.

  • Up Next: MNF

We're down to just one game left in Week 10. The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Green Bay Packers next tomorrow night at Lambeau Field to wrap up the week.

  • Justin Herbert vs. Aaron Rodgers

Justin Herbert came out on top in this battle at SoFi Stadium.

  • Final: Chargers 25, Steelers 10

And we're officially done here. The Chargers have officially won their third straight, and now sit at 7-3 on the year.

  • Keenan Allen makes Chargers history

Keenan Allen just picked up his 956th career reception with the Chargers, setting a franchise record.

  • Touchdown, Steelers

It's likely come way too late, but the Pittsburgh Steelers have finally found the end zone tonight. Aaron Rodgers just found Wilson open in the middle of the field after a bit of a lapse by the Chargers' defense.

  • Chargers add 3 more

Cameron Dicker made up for his missed field goal there. The Chargers lead 25-3 now after that muffed punt late in the fourth quarter.

  • Chargers recover a muffed punt

The Steelers came up with a quick stop and should have gotten the ball back, but they blew it on the punt. Ke'Shawn Williams tried to call a fair catch, but butchered it and allowed the Chargers to recover in prime position.

  • Another Aaron Rodgers INT!

And there's Aaron Rodgers' second interception of the night. He tried to hit Calvin Austin just now, but the ball bounced off his hands and right into Donte Jackson.

  • McConkey breaks open!

Ladd McConkey just barely caught that ball through Brandin Echols, somehow shook him off and then erupted for a 58-yard gain.

Kimani Vidal then punched it in a few plays later with a short run. The Chargers are up 22-3 now, and we're just about done here.

  • Aaron Rodgers had another ball sail on him there as he tried to avoid the sack on third down. He took a shot at DK Metcalf on fourth down in the red zone, but the Chargers defense came up with a huge stop.

They'll take over now early in the fourth with their 12-point lead safe.

  • Chargers doink

The Chargers had a short fourth down look there, but they opted to go for a field goal instead. Cameron Dicker, fresh off a 59-yarder just a few minutes ago, doinked it off the left post.

The Chargers lead 15-3 now with 45 seconds left in the third.

  • The Chargers can just about put the game away here with a touchdown after they forced another three-and-out. Aaron Rodgers had a look to DK Metcalf there on third down, and thought they drew a flag, but no dice.

  • Cameron Dicker good from 59

Cam Heyward just deflected another Herbert pass at the line, and Herbert just looked completely defeated in the backfield.

But Cameron Dicker came out and hit a 59-yard field goal of his own to extend their lead. They're up 15-3 now in the third.

  • Jaylen Warren gets UP

Jaylen Warren just pulled off a wild leap to somehow stay alive there on a short run. He got his jersey ripped quite a bit on the way down, too.

  • Alex Highsmith just got to Justin Herbert for a huge sack there on third down, completely stalling out the Chargers' opening drive of the second half. They'll have to punt it away now.

  • The Steelers have kicked off, and the second half is officially underway.

  • Halftime: Chargers 12, Steelers 3

After a very slow start, the Chargers hold a nine-point lead at the midway point tonight in Inglewood. They'll get the ball to start the second half, too.

  • Touchdown, Chargers

And just like that, the Chargers are in full control of this game. Justin Herbert just hit Ladd McConkey in the middle of the field for the first touchdown of the night.

They lead 12-3 now just before half.

  • Aaron Rodgers throws an INT!

RJ Mickens was ready and waiting for that ball. Aaron Rodgers sailed one over DK Metcalf in the middle of the field, and Mickens came up with the easy interception.

  • A holding penalty and then a big sack on third down doomed that Chargers drive. Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers will have a shot here to put up points before halftime.

Quest for MLS Cup: The defining moments from the MLS playoffs

WINNERS

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami

After astunning first-round playoff exit last yearagainstAtlanta United,Lionel MessiandInter Miamidominated ina win-or-go-home Game 3againstNashville SC. Messi, of course, put in a Man of the Match performance, registering two goals and assisting on two more in the4-0triumph. It was a stellar Round 1 for Messi, who scored five goals in the three-game series vs. Nashville. If you go back toDecision Day, Messi has scored eight goals in his last four games.

In addition to a small measure of redemption following last season's disappointing early postseason exit, Inter Miami now has advanced past the first round of the MLS playoffs for the first time in the club's six-year history. Two legends of the game, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, each get at least one more game before the duo retires at season's end.

'Hell is Real' derby delivers

FC Cincinnatidispatched their "Hell is Real" rivals, theColumbus Crew, in a predictably competitive three-game series. This isn't exactly like-for-like payback for the Crew wiping out top-seeded FC Cincinnati inthe 2023 Eastern Conference final, but bragging rights now stand with Cincy.

In Saturday's decisive Game 3, Brenner registered a brace asCincinnati rallied for a 2-1 victory. Just days prior,Columbus steam rolled Cincinnati, 4-0, seemingly snagging series momentum going into Game 3. Instead, FC Cincinnati advances and gets to host Messi and Inter Miami in the Eastern Conference semifinals on Friday, Nov. 21.

Minnesota United

For the second season in a row,Minnesota Unitedclinched a Round 1 series win in a penalty shootout at the friendly confines of Allianz Field. This time, the Loons defeated theSeattle Soundersin a banger of a best-of-three series, earning both victories via penalty shootout. Saturday's Game 3 was the best game so far in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs. Despite going down to 10 players after a red card, Minnesota overcame a 2-1 deficit and managed to take a 3-2 lead in the second half. Seattle equalized in stoppage time, necessitating a penalty shootout that went so deep that it came down to the two teams' goalkeepers taking shots. The winning kick of the shootout was made by2025 MLS Goalkeeper of the YearDayne St. Clair.

Western Conference teams will welcome a road to MLS Cup that doesn't include a possible showdown with Seattle, which already had collected one trophy this season afterwinning Leagues Cup. Minnesota United, meanwhile, still is chasing the first trophy in team history.

Expansion San Diego FC marches on

San Diego FC's quest to complete the greatest expansion season in league history continues after closing out thePortland Timberswith a thorough4-0win in Game 3 on Sunday. San Diego FC already owns records for the most regular-season points (63) and win (19) by an expansion team. It's three wins away from matching the 1998 Chicago Fire as expansion teams to win MLS Cup (though, let's be real, it's not really fair to compare the two). Leading the way in Game 3 were likely MLS MVP runner-up Anders Dreyer and Amahi Pellegrino, with each netting two goals apiece and setting San Diego on a collision course with the Loons of Minnesota United.

LAFC's dynamic duo

Son Heung-Min was an established international soccer star whenhe joined Los Angeles FCover the summer. But, in this league you never quite know how big-name players will fit in. Oliver Giroud was a World Cup-winner with France and is the nation's all-time leading goal-scorer (Kylian Mbappé is closing in at just four goals behind, though). However, Giroud's time withLAFCleft more to be desired. Son, meanwhile, has immediately been a game-charger in Los Angeles.

Son and Denis Bouanga – the MLS Golden Boot winner in 2023 – were the catalysts ofa 4-1 routofAustin FCthat sent LAFC through to the next round of the playoffs. Son scored his first MLS playoff goal and assisted on another. Bouanga had a brace as he scored his 100th and 101st goals for LAFC in all competitions. Bouanga has scored 13 goals since Son's arrival in early August. Son has 10 goals in 12 appearances. If those two can keep it up, LAFC could find itself hoisting the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy.

Next up for Son, Bouanga and LAFC: AVancouver Whitecapsteam that gave up the second-fewest goals in the league this season.

LOSERS

FIFA's November international window

FIFA's November international match window, coupled with the one that takes place in October, has annually wreaked havoc on MLS's playoff schedule. This should be a huge incentive for the league to shift its schedule to the fall-to-spring format that has been rumored to be on the horizon. No other major sports league has its playoffs interrupted so profoundly.

Teams that closed out their best-of-three Round 1 series in two games will go three weeks before the next playoff round. That is crazy. Imagine there being a three-week break between the NFL's wild-card weekend and the divisional playoffs. ThePhiladelphia UnionandVancouver Whitecapsclosed out their Round 1 series on Nov. 1;LAFCa day later. The conference semifinals don't take place until the weekend beforeThanksgiving. This issue won't get fixed until the league shifts its season, with the playoffs taking part in the spring when there are no FIFA international breaks to interrupt postseason momentum.

MLS bracket busters

Upsets were once a hallmark of the often-unpredictable MLS playoffs. This year, at least through Round 1, that is not the case … except forCharlotte FC. By falling in three games againstNew York City FC, Charlotte is the only top-four seed to not advance to the conference semifinals. The rest of the MLS playoff bracket went chalk as higher-seeded squads avoided upsets.

Luis Suárez

Longtime villain Luis Suárez was up to his old antics again in Inter Miami'sRound 1, Game 2 lossto Nashville SC. And it nearly put Inter Miami's MLS Cup hopes in jeopardy. Suárez, whose previous infractions that have accumulated over the years includes (but is not exclusive to) biting multiple opponents, kicked Nashville SC's Andy Najar during an off-ball sequence. This moment of buffoonery earned the strikera suspensionfor Miami's winner-or-go-home Game 3. Thankfully for Suárez, Messi and Co. were able to easily dispatch Nashville and advance to the next round.

Chicago Fire fans and THAT chant

Getting boot-stomped3-0by the Philadelphia Union in a win-or-go-home playoff game wasn't the worst part of theChicago Fire's unceremonious exit from the team's first postseason appearance since 2017.

The homophobic chant oftenheard at Mexico national team games(and sometimes at MLS games) could be heard from the Fire's supporters' section. It got so bad that the game was briefly suspended and Fire coach Gregg Berhalter had toplead with the fans to cut it out. Yes, the coach had to go scold his own fans. That's embarrassing.

After Lecornu's fall, all eyes on Macron's next move with France in political turmoilNew Foto - After Lecornu's fall, all eyes on Macron's next move with France in political turmoil

PARIS (AP) — Outgoing French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, aiming to calm the political storm triggered byhis resignation on Mondayless than 24 hours after unveiling his ministers, faced a tight deadline Wednesday to break the deadlock caused by his departure. After accepting Lecornu's resignation, President Emmanuel Macron gave him 48 hours to hold further talks with political parties, citing the need to preserve national stability. The tight time frame for Lecornu bought Macron some time to consider his options. But all eyes turned to Macron on Wednesday asdebate swirls about how he may respondto France's political crisis and dig himself out of the crisis. The fragile coalition between Macron's centrists and the conservatives unraveled almost immediately after Lecornu's government was announced, leaving parties deeply divided, and he failed to secure the parliamentary backing needed to pass the 2026 budget. Lecornu invited all political forces to talks, but far-right leadersMarine Le PenandJordan Bardellaof the National Rally party rejected the call, pressing instead for snap elections. On the far left, France Unbowed officials also boycotted. The French constitution gives large powers to the president, who names the prime minister. Even when weakened politically, he still holds some powers over foreign policy, European affairs and negotiates and ratifies international treaties. The president also is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Macron, whose approval ratings have sunk to record lows, has not indicated his next move if Lecornu fails. Rivals say his choices are limited to calling new elections, appointing a prime minister from outside his camp or resigning. Here is a closer look at Macron's options: Choosing an outsider for a political cohabitation Republicans party leader Bruno Retailleau, along with the Socialists, Greens and Communists, have pushed for the inclusion of a prime minister from another party. Retailleau, who withdrew support from the government coalition, said he could join a new cabinet only under such an arrangement. The left also argues cohabitation is overdue. Their alliance, the New Popular Front, won the most seats in the2024 French legislative election, though it fell short of a majority and later split amid infighting with Jean-Luc Mélenchon's France Unbowed. Under cohabitation, the prime minister governs with the backing of parliament, while the president retains influence mainly over foreign policy, defense and European affairs. France has seen three such periods, most recently from 1997 to 2002, when PresidentJacques Chiracshared power with Socialist Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. Calling snap elections The French president can dissolve the National Assembly and call elections before the end of deputies' terms. The tool has been used repeatedly under since 1958 to resolve political crises, but it carries risks of deepening divisions. Macron already tried this path last year after the European elections, when the National Rally surged to a historic win. The moveproduced a fractured Assemblyin which the far right and left now hold more than 320 seats, while centrists and conservatives control 210. That fragmentation has led to chronic instability and a rapid succession of governments. While unlikely to win an outright majority, the National Rally views a snap election as a golden chance to come to power. Jordan Bardella, the party president, has said he would be ready to work with Republicans MPs in order to secure a majority. Lecornu voiced hopes Wednesday morning that a compromise could be reached to end the crisis and avoid new elections. "There is a will to secure a budget for France before Dec. 31," he said ahead of a meeting with Socialist officials. "And this will is creating momentum and convergence, which clearly pushes back the prospect of a dissolution." Resignation is possible but unlikely Macron's second term is set to end in May 2027 and he has repeatedly said he will not resign. But if his mind changed and he quit, the Constitutional Council would declare a vacancy, the Senate president would assume interim powers and a new presidential election would be held within 35 days. On the far left, Melenchon's France Unbowed has asked for Macron's departure. More surprisingly, and a sign of Macron's growing isolation inside his own camp, Édouard Philippe, Macron's first prime minister after he swept to power in 2017 and once a close ally, has suggested the president should step down and call an early presidential election once the 2026 budget is adopted. Since 1958 and the inception of the Fifth Republic, only one French president has resigned: Charles De Gaulle after losing a 1969 referendum. ___ Petrequin reported from London.

Caretaker French PM Lecornu: hopeful on budget, snap election becomes more remoteNew Foto - Caretaker French PM Lecornu: hopeful on budget, snap election becomes more remote

PARIS (Reuters) -Caretaker French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu struck a cautiously optimistic tone on Wednesday, saying a deal could potentially be reached on the country's budget by year-end, making the risk of a snap election more remote. Lecornu's remarks came as he was set to wrap up talks on Wednesday with various parties and report back to President Emmanuel Macron on whether he has found a way to end France's worst political crisis in decades. "There is a willingness to have a budget for France before December 31 of this year," Lecornu told reporters after meetings on Tuesday with conservatives and centre-right parties, and before meeting the Socialist Party. "And this willingness creates momentum and convergence, obviously, which distances the prospects of dissolution (of parliament)," he said. Lecornu added that he would meet Macron later on Wednesday as planned to discuss the results of his discussions. Macron has faced calls from the opposition to call snap parliamentary elections, or resign, to end the political crisis. Lecornu, France's fifth prime minister in two years, tendered his and his government's resignation on Monday, hours after it was announced on Sunday, making it the shortest-lived administration in modern France. That came after allies and foes alike had threatened to topple the new government, with Lecornu saying that would make it impossible for him to do his job.
