Italian beach volleyball star Adrian Carambula pulled off an outrageous serve at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday night. Carambula was playing alongside Alex Ranghieri as they took on Norwegian pair Anders Mol and Christian Soerum in their group stage match. And the 36-year-old did not hold back on the biggest stage as he dipped into his box of tricks. Carambula has become known as 'Mr Skyball' due to his signature move of hitting his serve high into the air with lots of spin on it so that it is difficult for opponents to control their return, and he did it in Paris.

Paris Olympics medal race is dramatically ABANDONED due to weather conditions... as BBC commentators admit they've 'never seen anything like it'
An Olympic medal race featuring two Team GB hopefuls was abandoned on Thursday afternoon due to the wind conditions off the Marseille coast. The men's skiff medal race was temporarily postponed because of the change in wind conditions towards the end of the first leg - leaving race directors scrambling for a solution. Great Britain's duo James Peters and Fynn Sterritt were running in sixth during the race, having come into it in seventh place at the end of the Opening Series.

Team GB star forced to withdraw from the Olympics with hamstring injury - with former world champion's exit a major blow to British medal hopes
Team GB have been handed a big-name injury blow as 800 metres runner Jake Wightman has had to pull out of the Olympics. Wightman, the 2022 world champion over 1500m, was selected to run the 800m despite missing the British trials with a calf injury. The 30-year-old has a European silver medal in his less-favoured event but he will now not compete in Paris at all after withdrawing with a hamstring issue.

Forty-six seconds was long enough for Angela Carini. Long enough for two right-hands from Imane Khelif, the boxer her friends and family had been telling her wall week to avoid because she 'is a man', to find their mark. Long enough for those punches to detach a chin strap, rock her backwards and leave her blue shorts blood-spattered. Long enough for her to tell her coach that she was done, for her to sink to her knees in the middle of the ring in apparent protest, smash the canvas in despair and burst into floods of tears that continued after she had spoken to reporters and made her way, disconsolately, to the dressing room.

UN official slams decision to allow Imane Khelif to compete in women's boxing event despite eligibility row - with Algerian's opponents 'exposed to physical and psychological violence' after Angela Carini quit in 46 seconds
A United Nations official has waded into the Olympics gender row after Italy's Angela Carini quit her bout against Algeria's Imane Khelif after just 46 seconds. In a significant development Reem Alsalem, the UN special rapporteur on violence against women and girls, expressed her concern online. Taking to X, she posted that Carini had 'rightly followed her instincts and prioritised her physical safety, but she and other female athletes should not have been exposed to this physical and psychological violence based on their sex'.
