A New Jersey sheriff's detective was arrested after he sent inappropriate texts to an underage girl after a night of heavy drinking, according to prosecutors. Michael Vermeylen, 42, a detective with the Bergen County Sheriff's Office, was arrested on Friday after another detective in Monmouth County was informed that he was allegedly sending inappropriate messages to the minor. After hearing about Vermeylen's alleged contact with the unidentified girl, a Monmouth County detective secretly went undercover, posing as the minor.
