Every September, thousands of young adults pack up their most treasured possessions and embark on their next step: university. Twenty-three years ago today, it was Prince William's turn to do just that on his first day at St Andrews in Scotland. The Palace had struck a deal with the media to give William privacy while he was studying, aside from agreed photo opportunities. One of those occasions was his arrival for the start of term with his father King Charles, then the Prince of Wales.
