There's nothing like the feeling of having a dog lay their head in your lap or coming home from a long day and being greeted by a sweet, adorable face that just wants some pets and attention. That's why a whopping 42.6% of households in the U.S. have at least one dog.

And across the globe,Euro Newsreports that there are about 500 million dogs kept as pets, including about 90 million in Europe. While cats are more popular on that continent, there are several countries that are full of dog lovers.

Apparently, Germany is the leading country of dog lovers in the European Union, as the nation has 10.6 pet dogs. But Spain isn't far behind, with 9.3 million dogs. Then Italy, Poland, France, and Romania are up next when it comes to dog ownership.

However, Hungary has the most dogs per capita, with an impressive 29 dogs per every 100 people. Meanwhile, Portugal has 27 dogs for every 100 people, and Poland has 21. But regardless of how popular dogs are in your country, you can be a huge fan of them, even if you never get to adopt your own. I mean, just look at their faces! How cute are these memes?

If you have adog, it might be hard to articulate exactly why you love them so much. There are a multitude of reasons, but actions speak louder than words. And seeing how powerful the bond between a dog and their owner is can be extremely touching. But if you're curious about the science behind why we can't get enough of dogs,Embarkhas got you covered. Apparently, there's even a scientific explanation for why we find puppy eyes so irresistible. As humans, we tend to favor characteristics that we find cute, such as larger heads and wide, innocent-looking eyes. Now, you've probably met at least one person before who's claimed that they love animals more than they love humans. But according toBetterHelp, this belief actually makes a bit of sense. While humans are supposed to be empathetic, plenty of people have, unfortunately, experienced cruelty from the hands of other humans. And it's likely only getting worse, associal mediaseems to be causing a decline of empathy and a rise of narcissism. So it's natural for some people to have a difficult time trusting other humans.

Animals, on the other hand, are much easier to understand. Their behavior may be complex, but they're never lying or trying to mislead people. If you show a dog love and affection, they will give it back in return. You never have to worry about your beloved pet stabbing you in the back or cheating on you. So for anyone who's been betrayed by a human or who has developed trust issues, it's nice to know that they can love an animal wholeheartedly without the fear of being betrayed.

BetterHelp also notes that highly sensitive people tend to both attract and be attracted to animals more than other humans. This may be because they're more empathetic, more drawn to the natural world, and/or are better at communicating through body language and behavior. They don't need words to explain their intentions or how they feel to another creature. Because of this, they might find it easier to interact with animals than to try to communicate in a human society where most of us have been taught to conceal our emotions.

On New Year's Eve, Leavitt posted anInstagram compilation of her top moments of 2025set to a music mashup that includes one of the most popular songs of 31-year-old rapper Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, "DtMF."

Fans didn't miss the track near the top of her Instagram Reel. "Bad bunny playing for the recap is the funniest s--- I've seen so far this year. And we're only 19 days in 🤣 she lowkey loves him like the rest of us 🤣," one person wrote.

Another comment included a photo of the Puerto Rican rapper at the 2026 Grammys, where he took home the awards forBest Música Urbana AlbumandAlbum of the YearforDeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.

The Grammy winner earned a standing ovation for his Best Música Urbana Album acceptance speech as he began with "ICE Out."

"We're not savage, we're not animals, we're not aliens — we are humans, and we are Americans," he continued.

When asked about Bad Bunny's comments at the Grammys, in apress conferencefollowing the Feb. 1 event, Leavitt said she found it "very ironic and frankly sad to see celebrities who live in gated communities, with private security with millions of dollars to spend protecting themselves, trying to demonize law enforcement, public servants who work for the United States government to enforce our nation's laws."

Leavitt added, "You didn't hear this same type of uproar from celebrities in Hollywood when the previous administration allowed an invasion of our nation's borders and allowed innocent women and girls likeJocelyn NungarayandLaken Rileyto be killed, raped, and murdered at the hands of people who should have never been in our country in the first place."

"Now you have law enforcement who are simply trying to do their jobs to remove violent predators like those who took the lives of innocent Americans," she continued. "There was no uproar from Hollywood and the alitest crowd at the Grammys then, but there is now, and I think that speaks to the unfortunate irony we're seeing in Hollywood."

Leavitt also slammed Bad Bunny when she was asked whether PresidentDonald Trumpwould be watching his halftime show orTurning Point USA's "All-American Halftime Show."

"I think the president would much prefer a Kid Rock performance over Bad Bunny, I must say that," she said whilespeaking to reporters from the podium.

Aclip later posted on Xappeared to show Trump at a Super Bowl 2026 watch party with Bad Bunny's halftime show playing in the background, despitehis criticism of the performance.

"The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!,"Trump wrote on Truth Social. "It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn't represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence."

Report: Document details Big Ten's 24-team CFP format plan

The Big Ten didn't get its wish of a 24-team College Football Playoff field starting in 2026, but that isn't deterring the conference from pushing for its goal.

The Big Ten reportedly shared an internal document detailing how it sees a 24-team CFP playing out with the conference's athletic directors and head coaches. ESPN also received a copy of the document, reporting on the details.

The document, which the conference is referring to as the "24 team CFP Format Compromise," wants to see the CFP expand to 16 teams for 2027 and 2028 and to 24 teams no later than the 2029 season.

The Southeastern Conference reportedly was willing to grow the field to 16 teams for the upcoming season, but the Big Ten would only agree if the SEC agreed to a future 24-team playoff in the near future -- which the SEC refused to do.

In the proposed 16-team format, there would be five automatic bids and 11 at-large spots. The bottom four teams would play the second weekend of December, No. 13 vs. No. 16 and No. 14 vs. No. 15.

There would then be six on-campus games in the next round, with the top-two seeds earning byes to the quarterfinals held at traditional New Year's Six bowl locations on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

That would align with a mid-January national title game, much like it has the last few seasons. It would maintain conference championship games the first weekend of December.

Those would not remain in the proposed 24-team format, which would not have any automatic bids, according to the Big Ten's vision.

Instead of conference title games, the top eight teams would receive byes while the remaining 16 would play on-campus games, ideally the second weekend of December.

That would be followed by eight more on-campus second-round games, hosted by the eight teams who earned first-round byes.

Like the current format, quarterfinals would be played around New Year's, semifinals the following week and a mid-January national championship would follow.

The Big Ten also believes that regular-season rematches should be avoided in this 24-team format, although conference opponents who didn't face off that season could be paired up for opening-round games.

Much of the Big Ten's desire for a larger playoff stems from its belief that a larger field would allow for more room for error.

"In today's transfer portal/player movement era, teams may lose a game or two early and gel together later in the season -- more playoff opportunities late provides an appropriate safety net," the Big Ten's document said.

The debate about expansion will rage without a likely resolution in the coming months. ESPN has mandated a Dec. 1 deadline in order for the 2027 CFP format to be finalized.
