More than 100 beaches across America have been shut down at the height of summer because their waters are contaminated with deadly bacteria. Public health officials in California, Michigan and New York issued beach closings citing 'high levels' of unspecified bacteria, but Massachusetts named the group or genus of bacteria Enterococci as their own beaches' main threat marker. Enterococci bacteria are known to cause urinary tract infections, blood infections and endocarditis — an inflammation of the inner lining of the heart which can kill if not combatted with antibiotics and sometimes surgery.

'Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed' hit shelves on Tuesday, July 2, and immediately took the No.1 spot on several of Amazon's sales charts. As well as claiming the top position among books in the site's 'Women in History' section, it was also first in the 'Women's biographies' ranking (while the audiobook and e-book editions were third and fourth).

Donald Trump's sentencing for a 34-count hush money conviction in Manhattan will be delayed until September after the Supreme Court released its decision on presidential immunity. Judge Juan Merchan on Tuesday sent a letter to both Trump's attorneys and the Manhattan District Attorney's office informing them of his decision on Tuesday. Trump's sentencing is now scheduled for September 18. It was previously set for July 11, just days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
