Skate America: Schedule, how to watch, what to know as Olympic hopefuls compete

LAKE PLACID, NY — With theWinter Olympicseason in full swing, the figure skating world turns its attention to the United States, where some potential medalists will compete in 2025 Skate America.

One of the six stops on the International Skating Union Grand Prix, the annual competition takes place in Lake Placid, New York, home of the 1980 Winter Olympics and the famed "Miracle on Ice." That iconic moment in U.S. history took place in the same arena, and there are stars that could forge their own legacy this season, with world champions and past Skate America champions taking the ice.

No spots for Milan-Cortina will be clinched during Skate America, but it can build momentum as skaters look to make the Grand Prix finals in December, with less than two months before the Olympics begin.
