South Africa-born Elon Musk has become one of the biggest illegal immigration critics in the US, but the billionaire had a questionable immigration status of his own when he started his first company in the 1990s. Although Musk, now 53, entered the country legally on a student visa to Stanford in 1995, he never actually enrolled in the prestigious California school. Instead, two days into the semester, he called the department chair to tell them he wasn't going to attend, which should have prompted his immediate exit from the country as he had no legal right to stay, according to The Washington Post.
