A WORKER at a popular holiday park has been charged by police following an alleged paedophile sting.
Campaign group 'Protecting Kids Scotland' swooped on Craig Tara, near Ayr, during the busy Easter Holidays period earlier this month.
They claimed the sting involved a decoy of an adult pretending to be a 12-year-old girl.
Jason Mason, 48, who is understood to have been working a shift at the park during the alleged incident on April 10, was later arrested by cops called to the holiday site.
He appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court charged with an alleged indecent communications offence last Thursday.
Craig Tara has recently reopened after winter for the school break and was packed with families and children at the time.
A spokesperson for Haven Holidays – who run the facility – said they were aware of the incident of a group attending the park.
They confirmed they had suspended Mason pending further investigation and he was not to return to the park at this time.
The spokesperson added: "As this is now a police matter, we are unable to comment further but we will assist the authorities if required to do so."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an indecent communications offence after officers were called to a holiday park in Ayr on Wednesday, 10 April, 2024.
"The man was due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Thursday, 11 April."
